Bamboo and wood plywood raw materials
Bamboo plywood, also known as engineered bamboo panel, is manufactured through a series of strict procedures to ensure stable structure, low deformation and consistent surface quality.
1.Raw Bamboo Selection
We select mature bamboo culms with proper age. Young bamboo is soft and prone to warp, while over-aged bamboo becomes brittle. Raw bamboo is first cut into fixed-length sections, then outer green skin and inner yellow pith are stripped off. Removing these two layers helps reduce internal stress and avoids cracks in finished boards.
2.Slicing & Planing
The processed bamboo tubes are sliced into thin bamboo strips. All strips go through planing to get uniform thickness and flat surface. Any knots, damaged or discolored parts will be sorted out at this stage to guarantee consistent appearance of the final panel.
3.Carbonization / Natural Drying
Bamboo strips can be kept natural color or sent for carbonization treatment. Under high temperature and pressure, carbonization changes bamboo into warm brown tone, sterilizes the material and reduces sugar content inside bamboo, effectively preventing moth and mold. Afterwards, bamboo strips are dried in kiln to control moisture content to a stable range. Controlled moisture is the key to avoid board warping after processing.
4.Glue Spreading & Assembling
Qualified bamboo strips are coated with environmental adhesive (E0 / E1 grade optional). Then workers arrange strips by grain direction: vertical grain or horizontal grain as requested. The layout design balances internal stress and improves structural stability. Multiple layers are stacked together to reach target thickness.
5.Hot Pressing
The stacked bamboo mat enters hot press machine under set temperature, pressure and time. High pressure bonds all layers tightly and forms a solid integrated board. This step eliminates gaps between bamboo strips and enhances overall hardness. Hot pressing parameters are adjusted according to board thickness.
6.Cooling & Conditioning
After hot pressing, boards are moved to storage area for natural cooling and stress releasing. This conditioning period is critical. If processed immediately after hot press, the board is easy to bend. We leave boards enough time to stabilize internal stress before further cutting.
7.Sanding & Fine Calibration
Cooled panels go through double-side sanding. Rough sanding removes uneven surface, then fine sanding calibrates the board to precise thickness with tight tolerance. Surface becomes smooth and ready for further cutting or coating.
8.Cutting & Finishing
Panels are cut into standard sheet sizes or custom dimensions per customer drawings. Edges are trimmed cleanly. We carry out final inspection: check flatness, color consistency, surface defects and dimension tolerance. Qualified boards will be packed for shipment.
